RELATIONSHIP OF KNOWLEDGE OF PREGNANT WOMEN AND ATTITUDES IN EXAMINING THE PREVENTION OF MOTHER-TO-CHILD TRANSMISSION (PPIA) KEDIRI CITY

Abstract

The community still considers HIV / AIDS to be in a negative stigma so that HIV cases in Indonesia continue to increase until 2019. Kediri is the region with the most HIV cases in 2018-2019, with 475 cases. One of the strategies for HIV / AIDS prevention and care is PPIA. The results of PPIA coverage at Ngeletih Nursing Health Center in 2019 were 74 (30.4%) of the 243 target pregnant women. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge of pregnant women and attitudes in the Prevention of Mother-to-Child HIV Transmission Examination (PPIA) at Ngeletih Health Center. This type of research is descriptive with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were 24 pregnant women, the sample in this study was obtained by total sampling. The analysis used is univariate analysis with frequency distribution. The results of this study indicate that most of the respondents with a level of knowledge about the Prevention of Mother-to-Child HIV Transmission (PMTCT) examination were in the moderate category as much as 66.7%. Characteristics based on age 20-35 years, highly educated (85.7%). Most of the pregnant women had already carried out PMTCT checks (100%) and received information related to PMTCT examinations from health personnel. The level of knowledge of pregnant women about PPIA examination at the Nursing Health Center in Kediri city was the most in the medium category. It is hoped that health workers will provide information about PMTCT examinations at health centers and invite them to conduct examinations and provide HIV-related counseling to increase the knowledge of pregnant women regarding HIV.
