Abstract

Farmer perception is the process of farmers in receiving information or stimulus related to agriculture.
The process of perception formation can be influenced by two factors, there is internal factors and external
factors. Internal factors are factors that exist within the farmer including age, education, land area and length
of farming. While external factors are factors that exist outside the farmer’s self, such as the involvement of
farmers in activities and knowledge of farmers. The purpose of this research is to determine and analyze the
influence of internal factors and external factors of farmers on the role of extension workers and to determine
and analyze farmers’ perceptions of the role of extension workers as farmer mentors, technical trainers, and
organizers in Kanyoran Village. The approach used in this research is a quantitative approach using
descriptive analysis methods. The method used in this research is a questionnaire to 130 respondents, namely
farmers who are members of farmer groups from different classes. Based on the data analysis, it can be said
that the internal factor that influences is the length of farming. While the external factors that influence is the
involvement of farmers in the activities and knowledge of farmers on the role of agricultural extension worker.
Farmers’ perceptions of the role of agricultural instructors as farmer mentors were categorized as very good,
as technical trainers and organizers were catergorized as good. The results of the coefficient of determination
on all of these variables are 24,8%.
